Citizens4Community Presents: Let’s TALK Death, Dying and Grief

Join C4C plus several local caregivers and “death doulas” as we discuss one of society’s most taboo topics. We’ll dig into stigmas and fears surrounding death, provide a safe space for folks to share their own experiences with grief, and explore ways to more healthily navigate these topics – both as individuals and a community. Complimentary light refreshments will be provided.

This event will begin in conversation with several local women who hold rich expertise helping people navigate some of the most difficult phases of life:

Kari Sims Anthon | Co-Founder & Program Manager, Peaceful Presence Project

Cheryl Adcox | Founder, Hand-in-Hand End of Life Doula Services

Debbi McCune | Founder, Living Well With Dementia – Sisters

We’ll then break into small groups for some lightly-structured discussion about our respective experiences with death, dying, and grief. Similar to the Death Cafe model, a key goal will be “to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives.” While not a grief support group, our hope is to create a space where we can bring our full selves to a thoughtful conversation regarding these sensitive topics.

Finally, we’ll reconvene, debrief, share ideas and resources, and brainstorm ways to help us all – individually and collectively – feel supported as we continue to confront death, dying, and grief in our lives.

Open to the public. All C4C events are free to attendees, but they do cost money to plan and host. Donations are greatly appreciated and will be accepted at the door or online.
