IN PERSON: Oregon Humanities Conversation Project - The Science and Story of Awe with Amber Peoples

  • 252 W Hood Ave Sisters, OR, 97759 USA (map)

The Oregon Humanities Conversation Project brings people together to talk about their beliefs and experiences around timely and important issues and ideas through reflective conversations. We are delighted to host facilitator Amber Peoples who will lead a 90-minute community conversation centered around the science and story of awe.

About The Science and Story of Awe:

During times of great change, anxiety and overwhelm can keep us stuck asking “What can I do?” on repeat, often leading to fear and isolation. The experience of awe, as employed in both science and story, can help us all get unstuck. What is awe, and what good does it do? Join Amber Peoples for an experience and exploration of the transformative nature of wonder.

Amber Peoples is the chief relationship officer of Earth Archetypes where she developed a climate storytelling framework to help people change the question from “What can I do about climate?” to “Who am I?” Because just like any relationship, that matters! She shares these stories through workshops, blogs, podcasts, books, and reality tv shows. With an MA in Theater Production, Amber has created a lot of awe for over a decade inside renovated buildings like Ecotrust, on theater stages with Science on Tap, out in the open air at Portland Farmers Market, and across 135 miles of coastline through Live Culture Coast. She approaches all projects with a foundational understanding of how people learn based on a BA in English Education and 8 years of teaching middle school, high school, and college.
